More than 2 million households in the UK are in arrears on their electricity bills, according to figures from the UK's energy regulator, as skyrocketing energy prices have led to exorbitant electricity bills.
In response, according to CCTV Finance reports, recently, the British National Grid issued a warning that if the imbalance between energy supply and demand continues, British households and businesses may experience intermittent power outages.
Although for many households, power outages can have serious consequences.
According to the regulator, at the end of June, 2,347,511 households in the UK were not paying their electricity bills and 1,858,585 were not paying their gas bills.
Both metrics are reported to have risen by about a quarter in three months and nearly two-thirds since the end of 2020.
